Russ Hunt
Disaster Services Volunteer
“I began my volunteering career during the response to Hurricane Katrina. My role has been to have materials and equipment ready when it is needed for response to a request for service. This has included preventative maintenance to vehicles and other routinely-used equipment, keeping supplies current, as well as maintenance and repairs to the buildings that we use.
All of the other volunteers and staff have expressed how grateful they are to know that we are ready and the equipment will work. I have made several good friends through Red Cross volunteering and hope to continue doing so for a long time into the future.“
His Nominator Leslie Moore says: Russ has gone above and beyond in our territory with regard to vehicle maintenance. He has procured no less than 3 new vehicles for the Long Beach and Rio Hondo chapters’ use in the last months, and is working closely with the regional logistics team to asses what is best for the territory needs. He consistently saves us time and money with his dedication and expertise.
