“When I was getting ready to retire I was looking for somewhere I could make a difference, and the Red Cross came to mind. I am mindful of what Edward Everett Hale said about this type of work: ‘I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do;’ and I believe it does make a difference.“
