If you see the Red Cross Disaster Action Teams responding to home fires in the middle of the night, canvassing neighborhoods on weekends as part of our Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, training youth groups all over the LA County about earthquake preparedness, or working with volunteers at a disaster shelter on Christmas Eve, it’s a safe bet that you are seeing an AmeriCorps member.
AmeriCorps members work with the American Red Cross, through federal and state programs, for about 10.5 months, helping our organization achieve its mission by providing much needed disaster preparedeness education and emergency assistance to underserved communities. 
This past year, we had 19 members serving the Los Angeles Region: 12 with California Safe Corps (CSC) and 7 with National Preparedness and Response Corps (NPRC).
Our Americorp members reminded us every day about how the American Red Cross relies on the passion and generous time of inspired individuals to fulfill its humanitarian mission.
