On March 9, 2018, Red Cross supporters from across the Los Angeles Region gathered at the Skirball Cultural Center for an evening of great food, star-studded company and live entertainment—followed by an amazing after party complete with a DJ, drinks, dessert and dancing.
Honored during the event was Laurence E. Paul, MD, as Humanitarian of the Year, California Resources Corporation, as Humanitarian Company of the Year and The Los Angeles Chargers, as Humanitarian Organization of the year.
Los Angeles Region CEO, Jarrett Barrios spoke during the event and commented that he was grateful for the extreme depth of support seen in the form of an overwhelming turn-out of guests from across the Los Angeles community.
The event was presented by California Resources Corporation, the Los Angeles Chargers, Dr. Laurence E. and Kathleen Paul, The Walt Disney Company, Ampsco-Pittsburg, the Pittsburg Steelers and Wells Fargo. The focus was on this year’s large-scale national disasters such as Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, as well as local Red Cross response and relief efforts after the largest wildfire in California history—which caused loss of life and property eerily close to many attendees’ Los Angeles area homes.
“It is always heartwarming to be in the presence of great people, people who understand the mission of the Red Cross and truly want to help those in need,” said Rachel Almond, who attended the event.
Numerous celebrity guests walked the red carpet to kick-off the festivities and show their support, including Judith Hill, who treated guests to a wonderful musical performance during the evening.
