It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Dean Stewart. An American Red Cross volunteer of more than 35 years, Dean was known to always greet you with a smile.
A strong volunteer who was active with Public Affairs, he actively participated in Santa Clarita’s monthly meetings and regularly looked for more areas to support. He was always on call for the Disaster Action Team and was ready to go for any calls he received.
When he wasn’t volunteering, Dean was actively pursuing his passion for theater. He acted and produced several plays with College of the Canyons. If Dean wasn’t supporting theater, he was exploring the outdoors. He regularly would go out to Joshua Tree, Bristlecone Forest and any trails that let him explore nature, which means he always had stories to share of his hiking adventures and tips for those heading to the outdoors.
Dean had a big heart and wanted to make positive changes in the work he did. He looked for opportunities to create those positive changes in his community. He was an amazing volunteer with a heart that constantly shined through his smile. He will be greatly missed and his dedication to the American Red Cross will not be forgotten.
