I have been assigned my first deployment, I will be heading to Sacramento tomorrow morning to experience Red Cross shelters for myself and help insofar as I can. Interesting fact in that my first deployment will be to the place I spent my childhood, what a privilege, what an honor and what a trippy coincidence. Life is serendipitous to say the least.
I should return on or around Sept. 13. I have been asked to write about my experiences, and I hope you will read about the work the extraordinary volunteers and staff do as the Red Cross. For all of you I would ask you to please, please encourage your teams, your friends and everyone else you know to train up as shelter workers.
Also, refer any licensed medical professionals to us as potential disaster health services volunteers.
I’m off to go pack.
